Real vs Fake education

According to my point of view ,education is a tool which you can use to make you think effectively ,so that one can use his intelligence to serve our world.

 At first ,I want to start with the simple understanding of word 'education' . What is the true meaning of word education, we have, I think forgotten it. We are treating our childrens or students in the university, as if they are empty baskets, and we are to fill that baskets with a lot of knowledge, a lot of information and so on. But the meaning of education is ' not to fill'  an empty bucket. The meaning of education is to bring out what is in there.  "Educare" the Latin word is to lead out,to bring out what is in the child. So education never stops at school or university. Education is life long process. 




Education is a very profound word with very profound meaning, just on this single word you can write a whole book. 
So now the question arises how in your whole life you are going to bring out what is inside you. So I generally give an example that a student , ' a learner ' is not an empty basket or bucket but is a 'seed'. Now if you look at an apple seed , a very tiny seed, so bitter that you can not eat it. And if by chance,by mistake, it comes between your teeth, you don't like it, you spit it out , and if you break the seed, there is nothing in it to your  two eyes, but if you imagine properly the whole tree is in that seed. And not only the whole tree is in that seed , but thousands of thousands of apples year after year after year for fifty years, which will come out of that tiny seed. Now the work of  a gardener is not to tell the seed how to become an  apple tree, and this is what mostly ours teachers are doing . The work of gardener is to provide the right conditions, good soil , good water, good sunshine , good stake and good protection so that seed can develop into a tree .What the gardener is really doing ? - loving the seed, caring for the seed , devoting himself/ herself to the seed.  Similarly every child  and for that matter every human being , each and everyone of us are born with a potential . Like every seed has its own potential . Everyone of us have a particular potential and hopefully we get some help from schools, from  teachers from our colleges, from our universities and from our parents like an seed gets help from a gardener. 

"So we have to always remember that education is simply a journey of self realization"

Now- a days we are spending millions upon millions if not billions of dollars and pounds and yens and Euros and what not on building these great universities. But what we have done? We have reduced the meaning of education to just getting a degree, passing the exam so that you can go and find a job in an office sitting in front of a computer. We are given no idea that you are born in this world with a particular potential, and what is that potential, it is your journey to discover, to 'find out'. So this is the meaning that I want you to remember when you are thinking about "holistic education".

We are in this body , beautiful body. Amazing Architecture of this body. What do we have in this body . We have the brain, the mind , the heart , imagination ,creativity. And then you go to university and are told no,no the rest of your body is just a vehicle maybe. So our education has just reduced to learning . Schools and our teachers are just teaching us three Rs: Reading ,writing, Arithmatic. And these three 'Rs' are just learnt through your head. 

So your imagination, creativity , your soul ,your spirit, your heart ,your mind , your hands and all your body parts , are all irrelevant according to our present education system. Our education , the main purpose of education is to train your brain , teach your head, head education:- how read, how to write and how to add.

Now , if you want focus on holistic education then we have to replace 3Rs with 3Hs. We have to educate our head,of course I am not against learning reading , writing , Arithmatic, writing books all that is fine, no problem. But that is not enough. We need also to educate our heart . Head , heart and also we need to educate our hands. If your heart is not trained you are not educated, not developed, how are you going to deal with any relationships in your life ? And the key to our life is relationships.  We are members of , part of , the web of relationships . I don't live in my head . I live in my relationships. I am here , you are here , because the soil ,the earth , the mother earth has been holding on her body , feeding us with food air water and sunshine. So we are not just head , we all are "amalgam of relationships".  How you are going to deal with relationships with your friends, children, parents and your  natural sorroundings. How you are going to deal with day to day relationships? The schools do not help you to develop this aspect of life . The universities do not pay any attention to this aspect of our lives . Then this education is not enough, it is not complete.

So we need to train our heart : how we feel compassion and how to deal with relationships.

The main role of teacher in students life is not filling his mind with knowledge, his main aim is to providing the conditions for study by telling him the purpose of education in his  life . In this way student will inspire more towards education and choose what topic he likes . But if a teacher does not inspire a child and just give him readymade knowledge then that knowledge will only guide him to pass exam but with inspiration he will be able to pass the exam life . It is just like hammering an cold iron. It is the main role of teacher that he has to Find the potential of a particular student .

"A TEACHER HAS TO NEVER FORGET THAT HE DON'T HAVE TO TEACH A PARTICULAR STUDENT ACCORDING TO CURRICULUM ,BUT HE HAS TO TEACH THE CURRICULUM ACCORDING TO PARTICULAR STUDENT."

All children's are born with creativity inside them but, as we grow up this creativity is begin to loss by the time due to human race towards money . So it is the big problem that how can a child let the creativity to be always inside him. To do so we have to listen to our heart and follow our passion . 

" SO ALWAYS FOLLOW THE PATH MADE BY YOU ,EVEN IF YOU ARE ALONE IN YOUR PATH "
